Spanish Course Descriptions for Youth
دورات اللغة الإسبانية للشباب
In the ‘Beginner 1 – Part 1 level’ children learn everything related to their own world: how to greet, say their names and ages, introduce their close family and talk about their routines. Children will be able to answer simple questions about themselves and have basic short interactions. They also learn to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and phrases. They practise listening and speaking skills using various activities and games and relevant materials in order to start understanding the language in its cultural context, and engage in short interactions. Children will acquire basic vocabulary to talk about leisure activities and they will review sentences in present tense.
The class is conducted in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere appropriate for their age. Classes for this level are distributed according to three age groups (age 5 and 6; age 7 and 9 and age 10 to 12 years old). The content of the course is the same for all classes, however classes will be adapted according to children’s age and cognitive development in order to reach their full potential.
Pre-requisites: No prior knowledge of Spanish is required.

In this course, children will acquire basic vocabulary to talk about leisure activities and they will review sentences in present tense, clothes and body parts, and they will be able to describe their house and how to locate things. At the end of the course, children will be able to answer simple questions about themselves and have basic interactions. The class is conducted in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere appropriate for their age. They practise the listening and speaking skills using various activities and games and relevant materials in order to start understanding the language in its cultural context and engage in short interactions.

The ‘Beginner 2 – Part 1 level’ for children is a course that reviews and continues the materials children already covered during the level ‘Beginner 1’ of Spanish and go further. In this course, children will acquire basic vocabulary to talk about autonomy and personal initiative, as well as introducing routine activities. They will review sentences in present tense, present continuous and some uses of past tense sentences. At the end of the course, children will be able to answer simple questions about themselves and have basic interactions. The class is conducted in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere appropriate for their age. They practise the listening and speaking skills using various activities and games and relevant materials in order to start understanding the language in its cultural context.

The ‘Beginner 2 - Part 2 level’ for children is a course that reviews and continues the materials children already covered during the ‘Beginner 2 Part 1 level’ of Spanish and go further. In this course, children will acquire basic vocabulary to talk about their likes, dislikes and preferences in daily activities. They will review past tense sentences and prepositions. New vocabulary will be introduced regarding how to travel in a safe manner. They will practise, under a communicative approach, the acquired themes of the previous levels, in order to be able to put together full sentences in a fluent way. At the end of the course, children will be able to ask and answer simple questions about themselves and have basic interactions. The class is conducted in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere appropriate for their age. They practice the listening and speaking skills using various activities and games and relevant materials in order to start understanding the language in its cultural context.

The ‘Pre- Intermediate 1 - Part 2’ level for kids is a course that reviews and continues the materials already covered during the ‘Pre-Intermediate 1 - Part 1’ level of Spanish and go further. In this course, children will ask, answer and argue using expressions. The students will understand routine speech and they will understand, react and give their opinion of it. They will make a review about various topics of interest (be it a film, a book, a play, etc.) and they will write information from different sources to reason against or in favour of a specific point of view.
Prerequisites: This class is best suited for students who have completed ‘Pre-Intermediate 1 – Part 1’ level of the TII or similar level of Spanish. If you are unsure about your child’s level, please arrange a meeting with the language coordinator.

In this course you will acquire basic communication skills and common everyday expressions, along with simple sentences aimed at meeting immediate needs in any part of the Spanish-speaking world. The focus is on: greetings and farewells, asking about and giving basic personal and family information, talking about likes and dislikes. Upon completion of this level, you'll be able to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs. You'll have the tools to introduce yourself and others as well as asking and answering questions about personal details (where you live, people you know and things you do). You'll be able to interact in a simple way when another person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help. The course is conducted in Spanish as much as possible.
Prerequisites: This class is best suited for students who have not studied Spanish before.

This course is designed to provide you with the linguistic competence to understand and use common daily expressions used in any part of the Spanish-speaking world, concerning immediate needs. You and your classmates will talk about your daily routine and leisure activities. Students that complete this level will be able to: understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). They can also communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar matters. They will be able to describe in simple terms: aspects of their background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need. The course is conducted in Spanish as much as possible.

This course is designed to provide you with linguistic communication and autonomy and personal initiative. You and your classmates will talk about your town, how to give directions and how to use past tense and prepositions. When you complete this level you will be able to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. You will develop the skills to deal with most situations likely to arise whilst traveling in an area where the language is spoken. Furthermore, you can produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest. In addition, you can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans. The course is conducted in Spanish as much as possible.

This course continues the Beginner series and builds upon previously learned Spanish. It is designed for students who have completed the ‘Beginner 2 – Part 1’ level or for those who have had previous experience with the language. In this class students will learn how to make simplified conversations regarding: their location and safety; position in time and space; shopping; how to use money for purchases in shops, bakery, in malls; or a visit to the countryside. They will also learn to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and new phrase structures in various real-life situations. New grammar patterns are learned in the context of a conversation or a real-life situation. The class is conducted in a funny and friendly atmosphere appropriate for their age.

تم إعداد ورشة القراءة والكتابة للناطقين باللغة الإسبانية "No pierdas tu lengua nativa" بحيث تساعد على تعليم اللغة الإسبانية للأطفال الذين انتقلوا للعيش في دولة قطر في سن مبكرة وغير قادرين على ممارسة اللغة الإسبانية كلغة أصلية لهم في الوقت الذي تتزايد فيه مهاراتهم بلغات أخرى.
وسيتمكن الأطفال في نهاية ورشة العمل من تحسين مهارات التحدث القراءة باللغة الإسبانية، وكذا التعرف على ثقافة المجتمع الإسباني من خلال فعاليات مثل عروض الأغذية ورواية القصص باللغة الإسبانية.
وينعقد هذا الصف الدراسي في جو ودي يتضمن أنشطة ذات أهداف واضحة ويشرف عليه مُعلمون ناطقون باللغة الأم. ويمارس الأطفال مهارات الكتابة والقراءة باستخدام مختلف الأنشطة والألعاب والمواد ذات الصلة من أجل البدء في فهم اللغة في سياقها الثقافي. وتستهدف صفوف هذا المستوى فئات عمرية مختلفة تتراوح بين 7 و12 سنة.
